He went to Wuhan in January as a member of the National Health Commission high-level expert team to study the local response to COVID-19 and became the head of the Jiangxia temporary hospital, a TCM-oriented temporary hospital in Wuhan. The work of Liu and other experts of the team in Wuhan paved the way for deep involvement of TCM in the fight against COVID-19. Besides medication, the Jiangxia temporary hospital also provides acupuncture treatment and organizes activities such as shadowboxing to help boost the immunity of patients.
